About Lipoker

We put the table talk back in poker.

Remote poker existed for years — but it was either video-chat-less (PokerStars, PokerNow) or required a separate call running alongside. Nobody built it as one thing. Lipoker is one browser tab: the poker engine and the video chat together, no juggling, no second app.

Archer built Lipoker in 2021, working from San Francisco. The problem was specific: every Friday his friend group would set up a poker table on PokerNow and a Zoom call separately — two tabs, two sets of audio, something always breaking. He'd spent years building social games and knew WebRTC was mature enough to handle peer-to-peer video inside a browser without a plugin. He spent three months on nights and weekends to see if the two things could be one thing. They could. That's Lipoker.

Lipoker is bootstrapped and has been since the first line of code. No outside investment. No monetization decisions that change the core product. It stays free to play because that's the only version that makes sense for a home game.

Our mission

Play anywhere. See everyone.

Poker is a social game. The hand is just a framework — what you're actually there for is the people around the table. Reading someone's face after a bad beat. The argument about whether that was a tell or a coincidence. The laugh when someone calls an obvious bluff. None of that works if you can't see each other.

Lipoker is built on one conviction: browser-native plus video-first is the only setup that removes all the friction without adding new friction. Every feature that ships does so because it makes the social experience better — not because it makes the product more monetizable.

We're not building a gambling platform. We're not building an eSports product. We're building the online version of a home game — with all the table talk intact.

The table should feel like the table, even over the internet.
